Yup. I would add this as well. “Conversation” amongst primarily women is about fostering group harmony and establishing “connections”. And at the end of the day when push comes to shove that overarching goal/need for group harmony is far more important then the very messy and sometimes intense process of establishing factual accuracy and arguments based on rigorous logical reasoning. Again, I’ve followed with interest the evolution of a particular place as it becomes essentially female dominated. Women like Liz who can come into a male forum like JFG where debate can and will get intense and can participate without getting emotionally overwhelmed are a rarity.
My takeaway is generally speaking I think it is a bad idea IRL to engage women in “conversation” that is more debate oriented and will be primarily about arguing facts and logical reasoning. Odds are good one side will be upset and the other frustrated. Male-female “conversation” should stay primarily in the realm of that context orientation where the WHAT really doesn’t matter.

It depends on what you call “group harmony”, but in my experience 90% or so of conversations among women are actually the opposite, they are grasps for power:
– Plots against a particular person or group that is seen as a treat
– Narratives for sympathy, either “Im a victim” or “Im unique”
Left alone, girls groups disintegrate into smaller groups that then plot against each other and attempt to capitalize on the resources while excluding everyone else that is not in the “in” – but this “in” will get redefined further and further pushing a few females up and everyone else down – or if this is impossible all keep a similar facade of friendiless just waiting for the moment to attack with full force.
You could argue that all of it is “group harmony” if you want to see it from a musical point of view. Or we replace harmony with Drama and make it accurate.
