Good point. Hypergamy and female submission go hand in hand. There’s no point in offering status to a man who can’t top what you’ve already got.
Reminds me of a conversation:
Her: Do you think you’re better than me?
Me: Well, in some ways, yes. Why would I presume to take care of you otherwise?
I don’t actually think I’m better than her in terms of value as a person. I know I’m better than her at doing a lot of things (but not everything). Good enough to merit the status she gives me.
