Sadly enough, once the details are spread out, Tyrones are nowhere near as thick on the ground as any of us think. They aren’t as visible as Mister Bigs, as puissant as Yung Thug Fer Reall or as notable as “the cat who made it out”. We’re just… there. Until we’re not, and once we’re gone, everybody and their grandmama wants to say, “What happened to the *real* ‘Daddies’?”
There, there, they’re there; right where they’re most wanted, far away from Tonya. They’re the guy who married the Russian chick instead of Tonya (because Svetlana enjoys make up sex and Tonya enjoys being right.) They’re ghe guy who stops his nephews from kicking Tonya’s seat at the movie theater (because he gets ghree more days of vacation, then he has to return to Patience in Lesotho.) They’re *those guys*, the ones who are fun to watch at the club, but you can’t figure them out because they aren’t married but they only show up once a season (and Tonya ignores *them* because a “real man” would ignore the 35 empty glasses at her table and her resting “bitchface” and talk to her, so “those guys” must be gay…) And the Tyrones and Tonyas who still get together have to deal with their retinues of mismatched friends who can’t be made into couples because of extraneous children or DUIs…
